Is Counseling a Waste of Time?

_wsb_520x280_COUNSELLING.3100050_stdCounseling! ” Crap, I thought I was done with this BS” (that is what I thought). Look at it this way, the sooner you show that your a person that can integrate with the community the better report you get to the PO, which is what you want. These meetings might seem to be a waste of your time out of your day or week but it is mandatory for you and the state. It might be twice a week, once a month, or what ever your standard is set for you. It is essential that you go to these meetings or with your counselor. If not you will violated with non-compliance with terms and I seen a few hard headed people ignore this and ended up backwards. If you are not doing anything wrong you should have no problem going to sit for an hour. If your “jacked-up” that is another story. Make it a point to go to these meetings, it starts out as a waste of time, but in the end it helps you more and you can learn more from other people in your group setting. If you are going through a similar problem….someone else is going through the same thing.

I put this picture here so it reminds me of that feeling of messing up again. I don’t want it to happen to you so that is why I reminded you of what we are striving for. When Ilocked up again see this picture, I hear the bars, the locks, the shackles and the smell like it was just yesterday. The feeling of discuss and shaking my head like here I go again. Don’t be that person! I am letting you know now that I messed up so many times that I embrace the counseling, group meetings and like to talk to someone about the problems that I am going through. Who better to talk about it than others in your same situation but in different phases. If you think it is a bother and a waste of time, look at the picture above. If you have been locked up before it should send a feeling that you know very well. My counselor after building a relationship through the first couple months is a person I can talk to, after trust has been received and given. It won’t be easy in the beginning but once that bond has solidified it is good that you can get a different opinion from a professional point of view. Same as with your PO, they are not trying to throw you back inside. If you are doing everything you are supposed to they actually want you to succeed. Don’t be such a hard ass, they hold the keys, and when they report back they are not going to lie for you. Just do what you are supposed too and things should be just fine. When I go to my counseling I joke, laugh, talk serious, and where things are going. I look at it as, if I am acting in a social way they will see it, if I am still being a thug and my behavior is not changed…how am I helping myself or the community along with my family. They can see right through it all. Remember this is their career, why mislead or throw what you worked on so very hard away. It might be easy for some, and hard for others, but attitude and behavior will go along way. Remember you and I did it wrong before and that is why I ended up in jump suits. I want to do it right this time, because frankly I don’t have enough time to waste, I lost too much doing it my way, and it got me locked up. It is time I try something new, even if goes against what I have done or believed in before. Now I just sit and listen and not buck the system. I embrace the advice they give me and what I take out of it. It might seem like they are against you at times, but at the end it is up to you and your choice on what you do.
